The police officer who was tased was treated at a local hospital and expected to make a full recovery.
If you thought suffering through Thanksgiving dinner with your extended family was bad, just know that you definitely could have had it worse. At least you weren’t shot with a taser by your partner, like this Ohio cop was.
On Thanksgiving Day, an Ohio police officer was injured when his partner accidentally shocked him with a stun gun, causing him to fall to the ground and hit his head on the pavement, according to the Dayton Daily News.
The two officers were reportedly responding to a domestic violence incident which turned violent when the suspect refused to show the officers any identification. The officers had tracked the man, believed to be involved in the incident, to his car, and questioned him there.
When the officers attempted to remove the man from his vehicle, he refused to cooperate. In an attempt to handcuff the suspect, he attempted to make a break for it, leading the officer with the taser to use it on the suspect. However, during the struggle, one of the taser’s tongs landed on her partner, knocking him to the ground and causing him to hit his head.
Despite knocking her partner down, the officer with the taser was able to subdue the suspect and arrest him. He has been charged with resisting arrest, as well as obstructing official business.
The injured officer was taken to a local hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
