Suzzette Williams, Angelina Powell and an unidentified friend took action when they saw a Chevrolet Cavalier driving erratically.
When a group of Florida women saw a car driving erratically, they decided to risk their own safety and damage to their own vehicle to prevent the driver from hurting anyone.
On Sunday, three women, Suzzette Williams, Angelina Powell and an unidentified third woman, took action when they saw a white Chevrolet Cavalier speeding erratically down Bayshore Road near North Fort Myers in Florida. The car reportedly hit numerous curbs, and almost hit many cars as the driver drunkenly nodded off at the wheel.
The women were driving when they saw the Cavalier, and began to follow it when they witnessed the erratic behavior of the driver. In their Nissan Sentra, the women tailed the car while one of the passengers called the police and another live streamed the chase to Facebook.
When the Cavalier entered Interstate 75, and police had still not arrived to stop the vehicle, the women took matters into their own hands to prevent further damage or injury. They maneuvered their car in front of the drunk driver and slammed on the brakes forcing the car to rear end them.
This finally stopped the vehicle, allowing police to arrive moments later and arrest the driver, 25-year-old Brittany Sharp. Sharp was charged with driving under the influence as well as driving with a suspended license and careless driving. She is being held without bond at Lee County Jail.
The good samaritans who stopped this car declined interviews from multiple news organizations saying they didn’t want to receive attention for just doing the right thing. Florida Highway Patrolmen praised the women, but added that they don’t recommend others follow their example of putting themselves in danger.
Nevertheless, they went out of their way and put themselves at risk to help others, and that deserves commendation.
