As an unfortunate result of increased ethnic tension between the Kyrgyz majority and the Uzbek minority, Kyrgyzstan saw its second revolution in 2010. The Uzbeks, claiming to have been forced out of the country, also cite gang rape, torture and killings in their suffering. As a result, though, Kyrgyzstan consolidated its parliamentary system which allowed for the first truly free elections to be held in the country, as well as within greater Central Asia.
