6. Human Teeth Under a Microscope

Teeth look incredibly bizarre (and pretty disgusting) under the microscope. All human teeth are made up of four layers that include protective enamel, dentin (the bone-like substance under the enamel), the pulp and the cementum. Under a microscope, it’s easy to see where the enamel has deteriorated and been replaced with cavities and plaque. The picture below shows cavity-causing bacteria interacting with other microbes in the mouth and on the teeth.
