Situated in Yekaterinburg, once known in the 1990s as the crime capital of Russia, Shirokorechenskoe Cemetery provides a final resting place for some of Mother Russia’s biggest bosses. Laden with expensive black marble stones and laser-engraved and life-size portraits of the deceased on tombstones, while these mafia men’s bodies may slowly diminish the astonishing size of their egos will remain eternal.

A rich 2,000 year-old ritual in Segada, Philippines, instead of placing the deceased into the ground, they are bade their final farewell via handmade log coffins. As the Segada people grow into old age, they carve their own coffin from a narrow log. Once they die, they are placed within their self-made coffin and taken high into the cliffs to be “buried” in caves with their ancestors.
