Stephen Hawking can explain the mysteries of the cosmos, but not Donald Trump’s meteoric rise.

On Tuesday, the British physicist joined the long list of celebrities and public figures who have condemned presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump.

When asked to explain Donald Trump’s political rise during a May 31 appearance on Good Morning Britain, Hawking replied with a simple, “I can’t.”

He went on to add what he does know about Trump; that he “is a demagogue, who seems to appeal to the lowest common denominator.”

The Trump campaign has yet to fire back at Hawking, but given his affinity for Twitter feuds, there’s a good chance he’s preparing a comeback.

Hawking is just the latest among a spate of Brits who have hard feelings for Trump. In January, British Parliament debated banning Trump from the the UK.

Earlier this month, London’s first Muslim mayor told reporters that he hopes that Trump doesn’t win the upcoming presidential election.
