Bradley Fetchet’s Heartbreaking 9/11 Voicemail To His Mother

Bucknell UniversityBradley Fetchet was just 24 when he was killed during 9/11.
When Flight 11 crashed into the North Tower at 8:46 a.m., 24-year-old Bradley Fetchet was at work in the South Tower, where he had a job on the 89th floor. Fetchet witnessed the aftermath of the North Tower plane crash, and he called his parents about 10 minutes later.
He first called his father, Frank, and told him what had happened.
Then, he called his mother, Mary, and left her a voicemail.
In the voicemail, he said, “Hi Mom, it’s Brad. Just wanted to call and let you know, I’m sure that you heard there was… or maybe you haven’t heard… that a plane crashed into World Trade Center One. We’re fine. We’re in World Trade Center Two. I’m obviously alive and well over here. But obviously a pretty scary experience. I saw a guy fall out of probably the 91st story… all the way down… You’re welcome to give a call here. I think we’ll be here all day. I’m not sure if the firm is going to shut down for the day or what. But… give me a call back later. I called Dad to let him know. Love you.”

Minutes after Fetchet hung up, Flight 175 crashed into the South Tower, between floors 77 and 85. Fetchet, on the 89th floor, never made it out.
In the aftermath, his mother Mary co-founded the Voices Center for Resilience, an organization that seeks to help communities recover from traumatic events and provide long-term support and resources.
