In March, police took 45-year-old Colorado dentist James Craig into custody, charging him with the first-degree murder of his wife, Angela, by poisoning her protein shakes with cyanide and arsenic.

Police said the first instance of poisoning occurred on March 6, when Angela texted her husband saying, “I feel drugged.” What she was experiencing was not a drug but rather arsenic that her husband had allegedly put in her morning protein shake.

“Just for the record,” he replied, “I didn’t drug you.”

After this failed to kill Angela, James reportedly ordered potassium cyanide to his office at Summerbrook Dental Group, telling the supplier that he needed it for a surgery. When a co-worker opened the package and confronted him, however, James said that Angela had asked him to order it for her.

Angela then unknowingly ingested two protein shakes laced with cyanide, which sent her to the hospital twice, with her final visit being on March 15. She died three days later after suffering a seizure.

A Man Beat An Elderly Sex Offender To Death With A Moose Antler

Levi Axtell

Cook County Sheriff’s OfficeLevi Axtell, the father who beat Lawrence Scully to death.

In March, 27-year-old Levi Axtell admitted to the second-degree murder of 77-year-old Lawrence V. Scully, who was convicted in 1979 of sexually assaulting a six-year-old girl, according to the Star Tribune.

Axtell had previously alleged in 2018 that Scully was stalking his then-22-month-old daughter, writing to the court, “He has been [at her daycare] many times stalking children in his van. He is a convicted pedophile, and him stalking and attempting to groom my daughter is completely inappropriate and needs to stop.”

The court granted protection for a brief period but dismissed it several weeks later.

Then, in March, Axtell drove to Scully’s home, grabbed a shovel off the deck, and hit Scully between 15 and 20 times with it. He then “finished him off” with a large moose antler.

Immediately after, Axtell, intoxicated and covered in blood, drove to the police station and turned himself in.

The Body Of A Teen Who Was Mysteriously Killed Near Alex Murdaugh’s Estate Was Exhumed And Re-Examined

Stephen Smith Crime Scene

MaxPolice at the scene of Stephen Smith’s death in 2015.

On July 8, 2015, a 19-year-old man named Stephen Smith was found lying in the middle of a road in Hampton County, South Carolina. According to the Greenville News, Smith’s death was originally ruled a vehicular hit-and-run, but the investigation was reopened in the wake of Alex Murdaugh’s double-murder conviction.

Smith’s body was found not far from Murdaugh’s hunting estate, and his mother, Sandy Smith, began calling for her son’s body to be re-examined shortly after Murdaugh’s conviction. She even raised more than $53,000 on GoFundMe to support the exhumation of her son’s body — and possibly to spark a new investigation into his death.

The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division reopened the case in June 2021, and they announced in March of this year that they would be considering the case a murder investigation.
