At just 2 feet, 1.6 inches tall, Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh is the shortest living man in the world, according to Guinness World Records.

Originally from Bukan County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran, Ghaderzadeh was born on July 13, 2002. At age 20, Ghaderzadeh was declared the world’s shortest living man in 2022 at 2 feet, 1.6 inches tall.

Ghaderzadeh’s small size and the medical treatments he needed made it difficult to live an ordinary life. He couldn’t attend a traditional school, and he needed to be escorted by his parents wherever he went.

However, since being recognized by Guinness World Records, Afshin Esmaeil Ghaderzadeh has learned to write his name. He’s also come to enjoy traveling, and he has embraced his fame as a record holder.

“Just thinking about being part of the Guinness World Records family is like a dream. I struggle to believe it sometimes,” he said. “It is like you wake up the next day and the entire world now knows who you are. That’s magical.”

Ghaderzadeh enjoys scrolling on social media, watching cartoons, and following sports. He not only holds the record for shortest living man, but also the record for the smallest hands in the world.
