Sun Mingming And Xu Yan: The Tallest Living Married Couple

Anna Haining Swan and Martin Van Buren Bates were the tallest married couple ever, but the next duo on our list are considered the tallest living married couple. Their names are Sun Mingming and Xu Yan, both of China.
Xu Yan, a handball player, is a little over 6 feet, 1 inch tall — an unusual height for a woman, but not nearly as tall as Gelgi, Jinlian, or Swan. But her husband, the basketball player Sun Mingming, towers over her at 7 feet and (almost) 9 inches. According to a 2006 New York Times article, the cause of Mingming’s height was a pituitary tumor, which was eventually removed.
The couple met at the National Games of China in 2009, and got married four years later in 2013. After their wedding, they were awarded the title of the “tallest married couple living” by Guinness World Records.

“Everyday tasks such as traveling by car, plane, or getting a room in a hotel do prove difficult, but we’re used to these problems,” Mingming and Yan told Guinness World Records in 2015.
But even though they are the tallest living married couple, their advice for a healthy marriage applies to anyone. They said: “No one is perfect, therefore you need to support one another on a daily basis.”
