In 2007, eight-year-old Amarjeet Sada murdered a six-month-old baby and buried her body in his village in northern India — but the infant wasn't his first victim.

YouTubeAmarjeet Sada openly admitted to murdering three infants when he was questioned by the police.
From Jack the Ripper to Jeffrey Dahmer, history is full of tales of vicious murderers. However, few of these stories are quite so disturbing as that of Amarjeet Sada, who is widely considered to be the world’s youngest serial killer.
Many deadly criminals notoriously tortured animals as children, but Amarjeet was not one of them. He started on humans, killing his first victim — his infant cousin — when he was just seven years old. However, the boy did not face any real consequences.
This likely emboldened Amarjeet, and he decided to murder again. His next victim was his own eight-month-old sister. Still, his family covered up his offenses.
It wasn’t until he killed his final victim, the six-month-old daughter of another villager, that Amarjeet Sada was finally punished for his crimes. Still, Indian law prohibited him from being imprisoned or sentenced to death, and he was simply sent to a juvenile detention facility until he turned 18. It’s unclear what happened to him once he was released — or if he was truly rehabilitated.
Amarjeet Sada Murders His Young Cousin And Baby Sister
Born in 1998 in a small village in the Indian state of Bihar, Amarjeet Sada came from a poverty-stricken family. An article published in The International Journal of Indian Psychology claims that he was neglected from a young age as his parents struggled to survive.
There are conflicting reports about his childhood, and much of it remains shrouded in rumor and mystery, but some people also believe that his parents were alcoholics and physically abused him. What is clear is that Amarjeet suffered from some sort of mental illness or personality disorder.
According to a 2007 report in The Times of India, one psychologist called him a “sadist who derives pleasure from inflicting injuries,” and another said he had no “sense of right or wrong.”
Still, until Amarjeet Sada was seven years old, he was seemingly a normal child. That all changed in 2006.

YouTubePsychologists reportedly determined that Amarjeet Sada had no sense of right or wrong.
The details of the first murder committed by the world’s youngest serial killer are fuzzy. Some outlets say his victim was six years old, while others say nine months. Likewise, reports vary as to whether the crime occurred at Amarjeet’s house or his aunt’s house. Either way, the child was Amarjeet’s cousin.
The boy reportedly first pinched or hit her until she cried, which he found amusing. Then, to quiet the girl, Amarjeet strangled her to death.
When he was later asked where his cousin was, he allegedly confessed to the murder. However, his parents did not report the crime to the police. His father punished him for it, but beyond that, they considered it a simple “family matter.” Amarjeet’s aunt also seemingly agreed to keep the secret.
The lack of consequences soon inspired Amarjeet to murder again. He found his second victim in his eight-month-old sister.
One night, while his parents were asleep, the young boy reportedly took his sister out of her crib and strangled her to death. After he’d killed her, he put her body back in her bed and continued to play with his toys.
When his mother later picked up the baby to feed her, she knew exactly what had happened. Once again, Amarjeet admitted to the murder, and once again, his parents opted not to report his grisly crime to the police.
It wasn’t until Amarjeet Sada decided to kill for a third time that he faced punishment — and became known as the world’s youngest serial killer.
The Tragic Death Of Six-Month-Old Khushboo
Emboldened by getting away with murder twice, Amarjeet set out to kill for a third time in 2007 when he was eight years old. This time, however, he took the violence outside of his own family.
A woman named Chunchun Devi had left her six-month-old daughter, Khushboo, in a village school to nap while she ran errands nearby. Amarjeet came across the little girl, picked her up, and took her out of the building.

When Devi returned to collect her daughter, the infant was nowhere to be found. She flew into a panic, and people nearby began helping her search for the girl to no avail. Then, someone remembered seeing Amarjeet carrying the baby away.
The police were notified, and within hours, they had found Amarjeet and brought him in for questioning. However, they didn’t expect what they were about to hear come from the little boy’s mouth.
How Police Finally Caught The World’s Youngest Serial Killer
Amarjeet Sada showed no remorse as he sat in the police station. He reportedly refused to speak to investigators until they gave him cookies and smiled when they relented. Then, as The Guardian reported at the time, the eight-year-old made a grisly confession.
“She was sleeping in the school,” he said. “I took her a little away and killed her with a stone and buried her.” Then, he led officers to a nearby field where they found Khushboo’s body, which had been beaten with a brick or a rock.

YouTubeAmarjeet Sada was released from a juvenile reform facility in 2016, and his whereabouts today are unknown.
Amarjeet also reportedly confessed to his previous killings during the interrogation, but due to his age, the police were unsure how to proceed. Indian law stated that children could not be sentenced to death or sent to prison, so instead, the world’s youngest serial killer was placed in a juvenile home until he turned 18.
That day came in 2016. Amarjeet was released back into society, but it’s unclear whether he was actually reformed during his 10 years at the facility.
Amarjeet Sada’s case is not the only story of a child who turned to murder, but it is one of the most disturbing considering the young age of his three victims and the brutality of his crimes. While he has seemingly committed no additional murders since his release, it’s terrifying to imagine what he could have become had he not been caught.
