The Cruise Ship Disapperance Of Annette Mizener

Annette Mizener

The Charley ProjectAnnette Mizener was 37 when she vanished while on a cruise with her parents and daughter.

When Annette Mizener won a free nine-day Carnival cruise to the Mexican Riviera, she invited her parents and daughter to join. But on Dec. 4, 2004, Mizener disappeared shortly before she was supposed to meet her parents for bingo — and witnesses found some disturbing evidence.

Up until that point, it had been a normal night. The Guardian reports that Mizener went to karaoke with her daughter, where she sang Britney Spears’ “Baby One More Time” before heading to the ship’s casino. According to Cruise Ship Deaths, Mizener wanted to get there before the bingo game started at 10 p.m. in order to get a good seat.

But she didn’t show up. And as her concerned parents started to search for her, a crewmember announced over the intercom that they’d found the Wisconsin woman’s purse near a railing on the lower deck.

Carnival Cruise Ship

Carnival CruisesAnnette Mizener was on a Carnival cruise when she vanished in 2004.

According to Greater Milwaukee Today, a fellow passenger noticed Mizener’s purse on the ground when he stepped out to smoke a cigarette. Disturbingly, he also noticed that someone had put a wet piece of paper over the security camera nearby. “A lot of people have been saying it’s a rumor,” the passenger said. “It’s not a rumor. I saw it myself.”

ABC reports that a Coast Guard aircraft and a Navy ship scoured the seas for Mizener for 16 hours but found no sign of the missing 37-year-old. Her husband refused to believe that Mizener took her own life, suggesting that she either fell off the ship accidently — or was pushed.

“All we’re looking for is if anybody — she’s too magnetic — somebody must have seen when she left the room,” Mizener’s husband said according to ABC. “Somebody knows something, and just please come forward, man.”

Sadly, Annette Mizener remains missing to this day.
