Assaulting An Alligator And Making Him Smoke

Phillip Kolbe Harris Mug Shot

Lee County Sheriff’s Office Harris made it easy on authorities by having evidence of his crimes ready for them on his phone.

For the third time on our list, a Florida man incriminated himself when he posted his antics to social media. This is also the third time someone on our list fraternized with an alligator.

According to Click Orlando, 19-year-old Fort Myers native Phillip Kolbe Harris filmed himself not only hitting a young alligator but placing a cigarette in its mouth.

But it was an entirely unrelated series of events that tripped authorities off to Harris’ activities.

Officials from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office said they received several complaints during a crime spree on Fort Myers Beach in March, which ended up leading them to Harris and his video. After a search of his phone on March 28, they found three videos of him abusing an alligator.

The alligator itself was only two feet long. Harris grabbed and held it by the neck before throwing it to the ground and pointing a handgun at it. With his star tattoos clearly visible in the footage — and him audibly stating “this is animal abuse” before laughing — the footage was damning.

Harris was charged for just that — animal abuse — though his record already contained multiple counts of burglary and grand theft from the two years prior.
