Turbat, located in the southwest of the Balochistan region in Pakistan, and perched along the Kech River, is not only considered one of the hottest places in Pakistan, it’s also considered one of the hottest places in Asia.

On May 28, 2017, temperatures in the city — which has a population of just over 200,000 despite its blistering heat — soared to a record 128.7 degrees Fahrenheit. This makes Turbat one of the hottest places in the world.

And things stay hot in Turbat for much of the year. From April until September, the average daily temperature is 103 degrees Fahrenheit. Even the winters in Turbat are toasty. From December to February, the “cool” season, temperatures generally hover around 83 degrees Fahrenheit. It can, however, get down to the 50s in January.

But Turbat is known for more than just its extreme temperatures. The city is also renowned for its dates, which are grown in the surrounding region. And Turbat itself is known as the “land of lovers.”
