National Geographic Editors Pick Their Favorite “Love Snap” Photo Entries

You can finally exhale. The heart-shaped chocolate boxes are now on sale. Valentine’s Day is over. At National Geographic, however, the month of love is still forging ahead with its “Love Snap” photography project. Inviting amateur and professional photographers alike to contribute their understanding of the L word, photo editors have sifted through thousands of entries to handpick some of their favorites. If these selections don’t fully convey the sentiment to you, fear not: you can submit your own work for their observation until the beginning of March.

So we’re still slightly obsessed with Sochi. And so are photographers at Time, apparently. While the town has gotten a major face lift in preparation for the Winter Olympics, its distinctly Rusky heritage remains unscathed–if not under-reported. While photos of leaping figure skaters and soaring snowboarders are easy photo subjects, these Time photojournalists have opted for a less choreographed, and more authentic study of the bi-annual event.
