Dalia Dippolito’s Failed Murder-For-Hire Plot Against Her Husband

Dalia Dippolito

Palm Beach County Sheriff’s OfficeDalia Dippolito tried to have her husband killed just six months after they got married.

Dalia Dippolito took the words “till death do us part” literally. Just six months after she married her husband Michael, she began making plans to have him killed — and for a moment, she believed she had succeeded.

Michael Dippolito met his future wife Dalia in 2008 when he was married to another woman and Dalia was moonlighting as an escort. He fell for her — hard. He divorced his wife and married Dalia five days after the divorce was finalized, on Feb. 2, 2009.

Almost immediately, he had a series of bizarre experiences.

Michael was an ex-convict on probation for stock fraud. One evening, as he and Dalia were on their way home from dinner, he was pulled over by police. The cops found cocaine in his cigarette pack, but he insisted it wasn’t his. Luckily, the cops believed him and let him go.

But it wasn’t the only run-in he had with police after his marriage to Dalia. Police had received an anonymous tip that he was selling drugs, and they were watching him like a hawk.

Then, one day, Dalia handed him a drink from Starbucks. Michael took a sip and, after noticing it had a suspiciously bitter taste, quickly spat it out. He started to grow paranoid, and eventually agreed to transfer the title of his house to Dalia to “protect his assets.”

Of course, this was all Dalia’s doing. Next, she got in contact with an ex-boyfriend, asking him to source a hitman to kill Michael. Instead, her ex contacted the police.

It just so happened that the television show COPS was working with the local police department, and after sending an undercover cop to meet with Dalia to confirm her intentions, they devised a plan to trick her.

Michael’s murder was staged and filmed for the show, and when police brought Dalia in for questioning, they dropped the big reveal: Michael wasn’t dead at all, but now he knew that she’d tried to have him killed.

She was arrested on the spot and after numerous delays and retrials, she was sentenced to 16 years in prison in 2017.
