Carol Spadoni And Phillip Jablonski

Phillip Jablonski

FacebookAfter serving time in prison for killing a previous wife, Philip Jablonski murdered his new wife Carol Spadoni, whom he had met while he was incarcerated.

If you thought the premise of women falling in love with serial killers was a shock, then the tale of Carol Spadoni will leave you aghast. She not only married convicted murderer Phillip Jablonski, but became one of his victims after he was paroled for good behavior.

Spadoni met her husband in 1978 after responding to Jablonski’s personal ad in the paper. To Spadoni’s delight, he seemed just as eager to pursue a relationship as her. Remarkably, the fact that he was imprisoned for murdering his previous wife didn’t deter her.

Over the course of the next few years, Spadoni and Jablonski got to know each other a little better. And in 1982, the couple tied the knot in San Quentin Prison. Unfortunately, it was only a matter of years before Spadoni’s good faith led to her disturbing murder.

At some point, Spadoni wanted to end her relationship with Jablonski, telling a friend that he was “weird.”

But when she found out that Jablonski was about to be released for good behavior in 1990, that’s when she really started to feel afraid. At the time, she was living with her mother, Eva Petersen, and she was terrified that Jablonski would harm her or her mother.

Meanwhile, Jablonski apparently assumed that he would live with Spadoni once he was a free man. He even sent his belongings to her home prior to his release. Spadoni and her mother managed to convince a friend to move his items out — and she even contacted his parole officer to let him know her concerns. So the officer forbade Jablonski from visiting her home in Burlingame, California under any circumstances.

Tragically, he didn’t listen — and he paid her a fatal visit in 1991. Jablonski not only murdered 46-year-old Spadoni in her own home but also took the life of his 72-year-old mother-in-law. The macabre incident only got more grotesque from there.

Not only did he stab and shoot the two women, he also mutilated their bodies after they died. He even raped Petersen after she was already dead. Jablonski described the brutal murders on a personal tape, which investigators later found in his car.

In a court filing, the gruesome discovery of Spadoni’s body reads as such:

“Her nose and mouth were covered with duct tape wrapped so tightly it would have cut off her breathing except that she had been stabbed in the throat creating a functional tracheotomy.”

“She had a bullet wound behind her right ear and three stab marks in her abdomen. Additionally, half of her right breast was sliced off, exposing a silicone implant. There were also stab wounds to her vagina, and her intestines were protruding from her anus as the result of a laceration.”

Ultimately found guilty of the two murders — and at least three other additional murders — Jablonski was sentenced to death. However, he ended up dying in prison in December 2019. He was 73 years old.
