The Spider Invasion of Pakistan
When heavy floods hit Pakistan in 2010, overflowing rivers left behind large pools of stagnant water. In the small village of Sindh, the water was slow to recede, and with the local spiders having nowhere else to go, they crawled up into the trees.
The ghostly branches reclaimed by nature may have given locals the chills, but they were actually thankful for the spiders; the eight-legged crawlers kept the mosquito population under control.
