Yes, you’ve been using an ATM for as long as you can remember, but that’s nothing like what the future has in store for you. For now, there is still the option to step inside a bank and communicate with a human teller if one so chooses, but according to Frey and Osborne, tellers have a 98.3% chance of becoming fully automated.

In fact, earlier this year, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi in Japan revealed an intelligent, robotic bank teller, NAO, to customers at one of their branches. The multi-lingual robot will assist foreign customers with financial transactions during the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. Currently, NAO speaks English, Japanese, and Chinese, but is capable of learning up to 19 different languages. NAO is able to use its sensors to analyze emotions via facial expression and tone of voice. If customers are satisfied with NAO’s service, the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi will plan to integrate NAO into more branches throughout the year.
