In another horrifying case of child abuse on this list of crime news stories, the parents of a young boy who died under suspicious circumstances have been charged with his death.
In 2018, seven-year-old Ethan Hauschultz died from hypothermia and blunt force trauma to the head, chest, and abdomen. His court appointed parents and sibling have since been charged with his death.
Though the investigation began last year, it took almost that long to get to the bottom of Hauschultz’s mysterious death. Tragically, police discovered that the boy was likely tortured for a period of time before his death.
According to the investigation, Hauschultz had been forced to carry around a 44-pound log for two hours a day as punishment for “not knowing 13 Bible verses to [his father’s] satisfaction.” He had also been forced to stand outside in 20-degree weather without a coat.
The blunt force trauma came from the boy’s adoptive sibling, a 15-year-old brother who repeatedly kicked, punched and hit him.
