Arron Hough: The Cruise Ship Performer Who Vanished

FacebookArron Hough presented himself as happy on social media, but some think that he struggled in real life.
Like Rebecca Coriam, 20-year-old Arron Hough seemed to have a dream job. The London theater school graduate had landed a plum gig as a performer on a Royal Caribbean ship, where he played a part in the show Grease. But on Christmas Day 2018, Hough vanished 267 miles off the coast of Puerto Rico.
According to The Sun, Hough was last seen on CCTV footage walking onto Deck 5, an area that housed a number of shops and bars, around 4 a.m. When he didn’t show up for work that day, the cruise ship launched a massive search to find him.
But despite a two-day hunt that covered 3,700 square miles, according to the BBC, the search effort came up empty. It seemed that Hough had gone overboard. But did he fall — or did he jump?

After Hough’s cruise ship disappearance, some noted that his social media posts suggested that he was inwardly struggling, despite the cheerful photos he often uploaded. “Social media is the killer of people,” he posted a week before he disappeared, complaining about “the fake lives we live on social media.”
On Dec. 21, Hough also posted “Gonna kill someone f—ing hell.” And in his last post before he disappeared, on Dec. 22, the performer cryptically wrote: “Beneath the water is beauty. Always look beneath the surface before you decide on things.”
Tragically, like most of the cruise ship disappearances on this list, no sign of Arron Hough was ever found. Whatever happened to Hough on Christmas Day remains known only to him — and to the sea.
