In 2016, then-candidate Donald J. Trump’s campaign was almost derailed by a sex scandal. On Oct. 7, 2016, an Access Hollywood clip showed the future president bragging about sexual assault.
“I don’t even wait,” Trump boasted. “And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything… Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.”
Despite the uproar that followed — and the predictions that Trump had cratered his campaign — he went on to win the presidency. It didn’t come out until much later that Trump had also faced another sex scandal in October.
On Jan. 18, 2018, the Wall Street Journal broke the story that in October 2016, Trump’s lawyer had paid off an adult-film actress Stephanie Clifford, known as Stormy Daniels, to keep her quiet about an alleged 2006 affair.

Daniels broke her silence a few months later. On 60 Minutes that March, Daniels claimed that they had met at a golf tournament in 2006. When Daniels, then 27, swatted Trump, then 60, with a copy of a magazine with his face on the cover, he began to flirt with her.
“‘He was like, ‘Wow, you — you are special. You remind me of my daughter,'” Daniels said. “‘You’re smart and beautiful, and a woman to be reckoned with, and I like you. I like you.'” She says they had sex, allegations which Trump has consistently denied.
Though Daniels said that their relationship was consensual, scores of other women have accused Trump of sexual misconduct since the 1970s. Trump has denied most of the allegations.
Like Trump, most of the men on this list simply weathered their scandals. They denied them, hid them, or overcame them.
