In November, a young boy from Massachusetts shocked his teachers when he showed up at school with a bag of heroin.
The boy allegedly told his teachers that the powder, which was inside a bag stamped with a picture of Spiderman, made him turn into the Marvel superhero when he tasted it. His teachers immediately alerted the police, who took the boy to a local hospital. It was unknown at the time whether or not the boy had ingested the drug, but police were sure he had put the bag in his mouth.
After ensuring the boy was in a healthy condition, the police turned their attention to his parents. A search of their home revealed the boy’s father, Benny Garcia, asleep on a bed covered in small bags of illicit drugs.
They found 38 bags of cocaine and two glassine bags of heroin on Garcia and promptly arrested him. Police also discovered 150 packaged bags of heroin with the logo “Power” and 20 others in a dresser drawer, 10 Ziploc bags of cocaine, and two glassine bags of heroin on a bed. The officers also found four walkie-talkies and chargers in the home’s kitchen pantry.
The boy was removed from the family, along with an infant who was in Garcia’s care.
